Websites and Webapps
- Ultrabox or Slarmoo's Box
- Description: Webapps written in typescript that is surprisingly feature rich. These are modern forks of an older app called Beepbox. Make your own instruments or load in samples. Song data is stored in the address bar, enabling easy sharing and collaboration.
- Note: These are what I use in Loog's Beepbox Jukebox! I recommend changing these settings: Set Layout Wide Long, turn on "Hear added notes", "Highlight fifth note", ""Show octave scrollbar", "show piano keys".
- Infinite Mac
- Description: Website that lets you experience Machintosh history! Emulate nearly all versions of MacOS in your browser and easily load in your abandonware of choice.
- cardgames.io
- Description: Traditional card games, but with online multiplayer! You can generate invite links and play with friends.
- Note: My favourite game on here to play with my partner is Rummy!
- Chord Player
- Description: A webapp for experimenting with chord progressions. Many presets and different ways to visualize the relationship of available chords.
Software
- QOwnnotes
- Description: A simple note taking application that uses markdown for formatting. Other features include search, self-hosting cloud stuff, git, scripting, encryption, etc.
- Notes: After trying a massive amount of markdown-based note apps (there's way too many), I settled on this one. It's notes with zero lock-in that's readable in plain text. I export my blog posts from this app!
- Flashpoint Archive
- Description: Miss playing free games in your browser after the death of Flash Player? Relive those times with this massive archive of playable flash games. You can find just about everything through their launcher.
- Links
- Description: A Text-based or graphical web browser for your console. Unlike the older (and still maintained) Lynx, Links tries to replicate some page layouts and typical browser GUI. Includes a graphics mode if you want images. Both modes let you navigate with either your keyboard or mouse. Has a windows version.
- Notes: Great if you want a no-frills browsing experience. Pretty comfy for reading simple or more text-based websites like wikipedia, blogs, news, etc. It was useful when trying to browse the internet on an old netbook I had that couldn't handle the modern web.
- FreeTube
- Description: FOSS desktop Youtube client focused on privacy. Store your info like subscriptions, watch history, favourites, playlists locally. No tracking, no ads.
