9/04/2026 In 2020, 2019 seemed like the "before times". In 2026, 2022 is the new before times. If you want to search online for anything useful, you basically need to specify links predating 2022; else it's just AI spam sites.
9/02/2026 There's nothing as ergonomic as a folded pillow behind your back on a cheap office chair, apparently. Made the mistake of prioritizing adjustability in choosing a new ergonomic office chair. The store model wasn't comfortable, but I figured I'd be able to dial it in at home to make it perfect. Turns out the only thing that's adjustable is the type of pain I want. Chair shopping just sucks, it really does.
8/27/2026 Because I've never been addicted to social media, my relationship with Neocities is a bit different. It's not as if I'm using this indie platform like "Oh god, finally something I can replace my socials with! I'm free!", it's me experiencing it for the first time. Could it become harmful? Is it like taking up vaping when never being addicted to smoking? I can't really say yet, as I haven't talked to anyone on here so far. Right now it's as harmless as journaling.
8/14/2026 Despite the record rains, some slugs still manage to stray too far onto the concrete and shrivel up. C'mon slug bros...
8/11/2026 Nostalgia is a double-edged sword: You can be transported back in time and feel warm and fuzzy inside; But the whiplash of snapping back to the present can be very painful. Sometimes it's best to keep nostalgia at arms-length, wear gloves while handling it, and properly dispose of it when you're done. If not, you just might make yourself sick.
7/31/2026 Since transferring away from a well-kept university gym, I've seen a lot of poor gym ettiquette. Please don't go for walks between sets. Going to the washroom, sure. Just set your waterbottle there. But wandering around aimlessly while your fully loading deadlift is sitting there? Hell no.
7/24/2026 What is an art style? It's merely a collection of habits and shortcuts that an artist accumulates over time. Abstracting certain details such that it allows one to enter a flow state, rather than trip over every part of a piece of art.
7/20/2026 It's funny in a tragic way that I'm addicted to media that bores or even upsets me. It's akin to me enjoying a sip of coffee despite IBS looming over my shoulder. Both causes me discomfort and a false sense of urgency. TMI?
7/15/2026 Oxygen bleach (Oxyclean) works very well to get coffee and tea stains out of mugs! Just let it soak for a bit in warm water with a small amount of powder.
7/13/2026 In all aspects, the indie web is still the internet. Interpret that as you will.
7/09/2026 Yum, I love drinking my vegan protein powder so I can gain mass! (it's full of lead)
7/03/2026 You can really be addicted to misery. What actionable insights have you really picked up from reading news articles lately? If they were really important for your daily life, someone would likely tell you anyways. People really started caring about news more in 2014-2016, especially in the running up to America's primaries. It was peak culture war bs on both sides, and America has never fully recovered from that. Later on, Covid would come and exacerbate this obsession with consuming the latest upsetting story. Shifting over to more local news (rather than American or international) in response to this realization did little to put me at ease. I think back before my brain had wrinkles, where news was mainly the talking heads in the background as a parent watched TV. All that mattered was my own little world and my actual interests. I hope to bring my focus back to that more innocent time, and perhaps rediscover some things about myself.
6/25/2026 Reddit is basically a retirement community for elder millennials to complain about traffic and laugh at GIFs and antiquated memes (which were never funny, even back then). It's essentially Facebook for millenials. If you're nostalgic about anything, their presence will sour your memories. If you like joy, do yourself a favour and never visit that entire website. This isn't a reaction to any one post or sub btw, I just really want to kick the habit of torturing myself with that boring schlock.
